The Cheating Tree

A bird droped a seed on a tree. Then the seed started to grow and wrap its roots around the tree..............

The Giant Rata can grow to over 100 metres tall and it's very dark and spooky inside. The tree is 800 years old. Seeds can be blown by the wind and can grow in the tree. The tree has soft ground inside it and lots of roots sticking out of the bottom, like legs holding it tight so it doesn't fall down.

The Giant Rata has an emergency exit.  Here is Connor climbing out!

Pukeiti....... Taranaki's Temperate Rainforest

On Friday, 10th of May we set off an adventure to Pukeiti.  Our focus this term is looking at Rainforests.  Did you know we have a rainforest in Taranaki!  Pukeiti is a temperate Rainforest.

We set off by bus, which was quite exciting for some of us, and headed along some very windy roads towards the mountain.  The weather was very chilly but we were brave, and prepared for all kinds of weather.

Here is a small sample of some of the plant life we saw during our day.

Many thanks to Nicki, Lee, Pip, Leanne and Janine for coming along to share our day with us.

Gala Day Pots with Spots

With the gala day approaching we got busy creating cute, spotty pots to sell on Room 4s stall.  There was a process we followed and look at the gorgeous creations we ended up with. Our pots are all now living happily in gardens all around Oakura.

Basketball skills with some future Tall Blacks

We had some very tall players from the Good Home Mountaineers come and teach us some basketball skills. Gee these guys were good, maybe one day some of us will grow up to be as tall and as good as them at basketball.
Jack showed us some of his skills and helped us to dribble......
Ethan was great helping us control the ball passing to each other.
Kenny and Ethan were great at helping us improve and answered lots of questions.
Hands in .........goooooo Room 4 and go the Mountaineers.
