The 2012 Production, 'The Toy Box'

All of the Penguins made their debut in our school production.  We were Teddy Bears. Our scene was based on the creation of the teddy bear toy named after Theodore Roosevelt. He tried to help an injured bear along time ago and the teddy bear was named after him as this was his nickname.

The Toy Box

In Term Two Oakura School is creating a musical production called 'The Toy Box'.

We discussed the school wide question, which is, 'Is it important to have toys in our lives?'.
All children were asked this question and gave an explanation to their answer.

We had a day where all class members bought their favourite toy and we wrote about why this particular toy was a favourite.

We are practising regularly for the production and are excited about being teddy bears and discovering how the teddy bear originated.

Watch this space for more production updates.

Term Two Gymnastics

In Term Two the Penguin Room travelled to the New Plymouth School of Gymnastics.  We learnt many skills including balance, co-ordination and perseverence.

This was a great experience as many children had not seen or used any of this kind of equipment.
